Welcome to our family web site. Our goal is to let others share in the interests we have developed. It is so exciting to see turkeys arrive in our back yard every winter and our friends and neighbours also enjoy them on the back yard webcam.
Both of us are members of the Rotary Club of London West, and one of its major initiatives is selling and installing inscribed planks in Westminster Ponds to help preserve the habitat for plants and animals. Karen is the project leader in this initiative and is always selling planks.
Nature and Bird Watching as a sport is very important in our lives. After many a birding trip, we find we have more birds in our own back yard. Of course we have many feeders, and our property backs onto Dingman Creek so that may explain this. We produced 17 baby Canada Geese this year on our front 2 ponds from 3 geese families.
We also are very interested in creating awareness in the Renewable Energy field. How can we have clean air for future generations if we don't start doing something now. To that end Eric is planning to someday build a renewable energy system at our home including a 10 KW Wind Turbine and Photo-Voltaic Panels to be Net Metered with Hydro One, as well as a backup natural gas generator to bail us out if we ever suffer from power outages as is predicted in Ontario's future. In addition a Solar Hot Water heating system will reduce our use of natural gas.
We also enjoy going camping in our motor home. Eric in particular likes the technologies involved like battery systems, inverters, chargers, braking systems for the tow-along Jeep etc. Karen enjoys the solitude of camping in quiet National and Provincial parks. Eric enjoys going on rallies and caravans with several associations where we meet people with the wanderlust and also see new destinations that we may never think of going to on our own.
